Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Criteria (2023-24)


  1. Candidates who passed H.S. (10+2) Examination conducted by the WBCHSE or its equivalent examination are eligible to seek admission to the first Semester of the UG Courses of studies provided they have also passed in English having full marks not being less than 100.
  2. Candidates having practical based subjects must pass separately in Theory and Practical papers.
  3. Candidate must pass in English. (full marks: at least 100.)
  4. Marks in compulsory Environmental Education/Studies shall not be taken into account for calculation of aggregate marks.
  5. No student shall be allowed admission after a lapse of more than 3 years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination.
Criteria for Major Course in Four-year B.A. /B.Sc. (Honours with or without Research) Criteria for Three-year B.A./B.Sc. (Multidisciplinary)
At least 50% marks in aggregate in H.S. or Equivalent Examination with at least 45% marks in the subject/related subject opted for Major Course.
OR
At least 55% marks in the subject/related subjects opted for the Major Course.
OR
50% marks in the aggregate when the candidate has not studied the subjects in her previous qualifying examination provided all other clauses are satisfied.
Candidates must secure 45% marks in aggregate in their respective 10+2 final board exams and must pass in the subjects they opted for.
For SC/ ST Candidates
40 % marks in aggregate or 40 % marks in subject or related subject in H.S or Equivalent Examination along with the SC/ ST certificate in the name of the candidate is required
Candidates must secure 40% marks in aggregate in their respective 10+2 final board exams and must pass in the subjects they opted for.

Botany Botany/Biology/ Biotechnology
Economics Candidates must pass Mathematics at the H.S. Examination (10+2) conducted by the W.B.C.H.S.E. Students who passed Business Economics Including Business Maths in H.S. (10+2) level from W.B.C.H.S.E. are not eligible to take admission in Economics Honours. Candidates of Economics Major have to take up Mathematics as one of the Minor subjects.

Sociology Candidates passed the previous qualifying examination (10+2) in Science / Humanities / Arts (except Commerce) Stream with any subject will be allowed to get admission in Sociology (Honours).
Zoology Zoology/Biology/ Biotechnology

A student shall be allowed to take up the subject(s) under heading “A” if the student had passed the subject(s) under heading “B” at the previous qualified examination
