Eligibility Criteria

Criteria for Honours Programme Criteria For General Programme
At least 50 % marks in aggregate in H.S or Equivalent Examination with at least 45 % marks in the subject /related subject(*) opted for Honours Programme.


At least 55 % marks in the subject / related subject (*) opted for the Honours Programme.


50% marks in the aggregate when the candidate has not studied the subjects in her previous qualifying examination provided all other clauses are satisfied .
  • Candidates must secure at least 45% marks in aggregate in 10+2 level and must secure pass marks in the subjects they opted for.
  • Bengali and English can be considered as Core Course (not as Generic Elective subject) of BA general programme.
For SC/ ST Candidates
40 % marks in aggregate or 40 % marks in subject or related subject in H.S or Equivalent Examination along with the SC/ ST certificate in the name of the candidate is required
Candidates must secure pass marks in aggregate in their respective 10+2 final Board Exams and the subjects she opted for.

  • Candidates who passed H.S(10+2) Examination conducted by the WBCHSE or its equivalent examination are eligible to seek admission to the first Semester of the UG courses of studies provided they have also passed in English having full marks not being less than 100.
  • Candidates having practical based subjects must pass separately in theory and practical papers.
  • Candidates who have passed in 10+2 vocational examination, conducted by the West Bengal State Council of Vocational education and training/West Bengal State Council of Technical and Vocational Education and Skill development, shall be eligible to seek admission to BA general course taking the subjects under humanities division only.
  • Candidates opting for Bengali/Sanskrit honours must study Bengali or Sanskrit as 10+2 subjects.

Candidates of Economics Hons. have to take up Mathematics as one of the generic elective subjects.
